Pul’s son demand fair investigation, wife moves SC
New Delhi, Feb 17: Ojingso Pul, the eldest one of former chief minister Kalikho Pul has said that there should an investigation into circumstances leading to his father's death.
Speaking to this daily on Friday evening from Delhi, he said that people of the state and his family deserve to know the truth about the allegations leveled in the note and what led his father to take his own life.
I want the authorities to investigate everything in a fair manner so that my papa, his family and the people of the state gets justice, said the 20 years old Delhi University student.
He further said that Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein who has been named in the damning 60 paged note left behind by Late Pul should step down for a fair investigation.
He appealed the people of the state to come forward to help get justice for his father.
Meanwhile, at a press conference on Friday in Delhi, Dangwimsai Pul, the wife of former Arunachal Pradesh has demanded a CBI probe into his death.
"It is essential that an FIR be registered on the basis of the allegations contained in it (suicide note) and the case be investigated by the CBI since the primary allegations are of corruption of judges at the highest level," Dangwimsai Pul said in her appeal to the Chief Justice of India, a copy of which she made public at a press conference here.
She alleged that her family is getting threats from the Arunachal Pradesh government and she was advised not to hold the press conference in which she made the late chief minister's suicide note public.
"Ever since the (suicide) note surfaced in the media, my family including myself, my children and relatives have been subjected to various threats from different quarters," she claimed.
Pul had committed suicide on August 9 last year and his body was found hanging in the official residence of the Chief Minister, which he was yet to vacate.
After months of intense political developments, Pul had taken over the reins of Arunachal Pradesh on February 19, 2016 for a brief period but had to relinquish the job following a Supreme Court order in July.

TUTING, Feb 17: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said that Singa in Upper Siang will be connected soon with road.
"I am informed that the road to Singa, the last frontier village on the Indian side some 94 kms from Tuting, is yet to complete. Our government will make it sure that the road is completed very soon," Khandu said on Thursday after inaugurating a newly constructed steel suspension bridge over Siang River at Kodak.
The bridge, spanning 210 meters, is completely made of steel suspended from six steel wires of 52 mm from the four towers. With an estimated cost of Rs 3894 lakhs under NLCPR, it was executed by the state Public Works Department (PWD).

Students intensify scholarship/stipend demand, threatens boycott of statehood day

ITANAGAR, Feb 17: The college students under aegis of Joint Interim Committee Stipend and Scholarship have threatened to boycott the Statehood day celebration, if the government fails to come up with written assurance on stipend/ scholarship.
Speaking to media persons at Press Club on Friday, the committee Chairman Hillang Nima said, "If the state government fails to give us written assurance, we will stage peaceful dharna on Statehood day" while alleging that the government is unnecessarily delaying disbursement of the students stipend.
The committee demanded immediate release of all pending stipend/scholarship from the Education Department within three days. It further demanded the stipend/ scholarship should be disbursed within the month of February. It also sought the government to roll back its new stipend/ scholarship policy and come up with permanent/ fixed date to release stipend and scholarship to avoid confusion.
On being asked by the media persons, why the students wants to avail Stipend and Scholarship when the rule says it can only avail either of the one, Nima informed that the students were availing both stipend/ scholarship over the last two years. However, the joint committee could not substantiate their claim.
The students' community also condemned the Education Department for failing to give proper information on filling up of stipend and scholarship forms, claiming that due to lack of proper instructions many students are facing untold miseries.
Release SSA salary on time: Education Secy
ITANAGAR, Feb 17: The State Government has instructed all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs), including Capital Complex, to ensure timely release of salaries of SSA teachers in their respective districts.
This instruction has been given following reports from few districts that the District SSA authorities were not disbursing the salaries on time despite release of fund, Secretary Education Bidol Tayeng stated in his letter to the DCs.
The Secretary (Education) requested the DCs to look in to the status of release of monthly salaries of SSA teachers in their district and ensure that the salaries are released to the teachers immediately on receive from State Rajya Mission.
"Fund for monthly salaries is being released by the State Rajya Mission to the Districts Mission every month since April, 2016. But reports have been received from few districts that the District SSA Authorities are not disbursing the salaries in the district on time," the letter said.
The Secretary Education also directed SSA, Rajya Mission to release the monthly salary to districts on time.
Tayeng requested the DCs to enforce 'No work no pay' against the absentee teachers after proper verification.

The Bridge was constructed on a steep rocky cliff along the western bank of the narrow Subansiri valley, covered by snow on the peaks.
Undeterred by the vagaries of weather, difficult terrain and lack of backspace for launching, personnel of 128 RCC under 23 BRTF under the aegis of CE (P) Arunank with local Construction Workers from the nearby villages of Tama Chung Chung, Orak and some from as far as Limeking took up this challenge.
"The bridge had to be launched using innovative methods and was launched at a skew angle of more than 25 degree from its intended alignment. It was later on swung back to its original alignment adopting innovative technique. There was no other way out to overcome this challenge," the release added.

APPDSU appeals for saving school land
ITANAGAR, Feb 17: The All Papum Pare District Students' Union (APPDSU) has expressed anguish with District and Circle Administrations for not taking strict action to protect the school land from public encroachment and illegal occupation of school quarters by some individuals.
The Union said it will strictly deal with the people involved in such illegal activities legally or in any other democratic means as it deems fit.
Further, the newly elected central executive members of All Papum Pare District Union (APPDSU) urged the Deputy Commissioner of Capital and Yupia to issue directives to the officers and police to evict illegal structures constructed in the school campus and arrest those people who have illegally occupied teacher's quarters and are residing in the school quarters.
At the same time, the union has appealed to the public to refrain from such immoral and illegal activities and leave the school land free from any encroachment so that the future infrastructure development of schools are not blocked.
Riken resents misuse of name, says local artists overlooked

ITANAGAR, Feb 17: National School of Drama (NSD) New Delhi graduate Riken Ngomle, who is a theatre actor and director on Friday said that Statehood day Festival committee is misusing his name by flashing his name in advertisements whereas he is not performing.
In a statement, Riken disclosed that he was offered to perform in the state festival with his group, wherein he informed the committee about minimum expenses to be incurred.
"To my utter surprise, my name and picture are being displayed in billboards and banners saying I am going to perform, which is totally false information" he added.
"I have furnished the quotation of about Rs 1.50 lakh for the performers which the organiser said they won't be able to pay, so I gave up" Riken said.
He said that local artists are being overlooked by the festival committee by claiming that lakhs of rupees are being spent on Bollywood celebrities.
"The festival committee cannot misuse my name and the image I have earned through hardwork' he said while claiming that local artists are often being denied and deprived.
None of the committee members could be reached for a reaction on Riken's allegation.

General Manager (STS) Abu Tayeng, in a condolence message, expressed grief and sorrow over untimely demise of Gongo.
Tayeng, on behalf of the STS family and his own behalf, prayed to almighty to rest his departed soul in peace and also bestow courage and strength to the bereaved family to withstand the tragedy.
AAPSTEWA also conveyed its heartfelt condolence to the family of late Gongo and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Awareness prog on domestic violence, sexual harassment
ITANAGAR, Feb 17: An awareness programme on domestic violence, sexual harassment and child marriage was conducted by the One Stop Centre (OSC) Oju Welfare Association in collaboration with the All Kra Daadi District Students Union (AKDDSU) at Palin, Kra Daadi district recently.
During the programme, resource persons Oju Welfare Association informed the participants about various services provided by the Association to those affected by sexual harassment, domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking and related crimes and child marriage system.
Members of One Stop Centre also assured help to women and students in case they face such problems.
The programme was attended by All Kra Daadi District Students President, Gora Rikam Bhai, Child Development Project Officer Palin, members of women NGOs, panchayat leaders, teachers and girl students.
Technology Week celebration at KVK Pampoli

In his inaugural address, ZPM Dadi Rimo explained the importance of agriculture sector in Arunachal. He urged the farming community to take up modern technologies in farming sector with the help of KVK scientists. Though the district has enough land for agriculture and horticulture activities, the hard working farmers are not utilizing the modern technologies, he lamented.
Deputy Director of Agriculture, District Veterinary Officer, District Fishery Development Officer, AS Chairpersons from 8 Seppa West and Watte have also shared their views, experiences and problems being faced in the district. They also assured to extend any possible help for betterment of the farming community of East Kameng district. Two progressive farmers also shared their experiences.
Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Dr. S. Borthakur also spoke on the occasion.
The KVK has introduced Innovative Farmers Award from this year and two farmers, namely, Dali Cheri, Nere and Nibi Longdo, Watte village have been awarded for the current year. Six students from GHSS Pampoli were also awarded for their performance during extempore speech and writing competition conducted during Jai Kishan Jai Vigyan Week and Nutrition Week respectively. Exhibition stalls were also inaugurated by ZPM Dadi Rimo.
Govt officials, public leaders, Gaon Burahs, farmers from different parts of the district and students of GHSS Pampoli attended the inaugural function.

Mock drills conducted on disaster management
ITANAGAR, Feb 17: A series of mock drills on disaster management were conducted by the Kurung Kumey district administration in collaboration with National Disaster Management and Relief Authorities at different schools of Koloriang on Friday.
A team of 12th NDRF, Doimukh led by Inspector, Rana Kumar and SI, Gyana Nand Shah gave demonstrations on 'dos and don'ts to all participants in the event of disasters so as to minimize destruction in the case earthquake and fire accidents specifically, in schools.
Stressing on the need for preparedness to meet any challenges of natural disaster in the district, Kurung Kumey DC, Kanki Darang told the participants that natural disasters are unpredictable and the only way to minimize destruction and casualties of natural disaster is to sensitize the precautionary measures to all stakeholders.
A large number of school children, teachers, government officials and general public took part in the mock drills.
Meet demands early resolution on Lower Siang HQs
ITANAGAR, Feb 17: The public meeting conducted by District Demand Joint Action Committee (DDJAC) and several other organizations and public of Likabali and Nari Koyu Assembly Constituencies has adopted resolution to pursue vigorously with the concern authority to resolve the permanent district headquarter issue of Lower Siang.

Workers register under APB&OCWWB
MECHUKA, Feb 17: Some 156 unregistered workers were enrolled at a mega awareness camp cum distribution of welfare kits organized by APB&OCWWB on February 15.
At mega awareness camp, a memorandum was submitted demanding a registration officer at Mechuka.
Labour commissioner (LC) Ojing Darang taking serious note of memorandum assured to appoint an RO at Mechuka.
He asked the unregistered workers to get registered for benefits from the scheme and facilities specifically made for them.

Testing time for judiciary
Just days before Arunachal celebrates statehood day, the state has been rocked by the leak of explosive note penned by former Chief Minister late Kalikho Pul. Named ‘Mere Vichar’ the note written by Pul just days before he committed suicide has named prominent politicians and even top judges of Supreme Court for allegedly being involved in corrupt practices. Present Chief Minister Pema Khandu, his father late Dorjee Khandu, Deputy CM Chowna Mein and former CM Nabam Tuki has all been named in the diary. Pul’s first wife has sought CBI investigation into the allegation and has even written to the Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar in this regard.
Opposition parties like PPA and Congress has sought resignation of CM and deputy CM. Strangely most of the persons who has been named by Pul has not responded to the allegation barring Tuki. Shockingly even BJP, whose supreme leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who often talks of rooting out corruption, has maintained stoic silence over the issue. There is no denying that allegation leveled by Pul in his Mere Vichar note cannot be taken as holy truth. It is possible that he might have dragged name of all the people mentioned in note out of frustration. However, there should be proper investigation into the matter by CBI or by a court monitor agency to unearth the truth. The man has penned a dying note and therefore it should not be taken lightly. It will be great injustice if this case is wrapped under a carpet and allowed to die natural death. Justice should prevail otherwise people will lose faith on Indian legal justice system. Now the ball is in the court of CJI and hopefully he will take a decision which will restore the faith of people on judiciary.

With the Education department in the state going viral, students in the state are furious and confused regarding the scholarship and the stipend benefit. The rule says that a student cannot avail scholarship/stipend facilities at the same time. And we know our 'rich' state had been disbursing both scholarship and stipend to those who applied for it.

India and China
Dear Editor,
The two Asian giants, India and China are now facing confrontations at every regional and international platform mostly due to the bullying attitude of China. However, I consider this to be a positive opportunity for India in growing faster to match China in the coming decades than crying out. India has all the necessary credentials, talents and resources to raise high in a global platform and built her economy strong and solid. The challenge posed by China should stimulate India to get up from her winter sleep and do more. India’s challenge is not her economy or her vast population along with unguarded borders; but illegitimate politicians heading various political parties. No one among political elites want to be a server to the people but all of them wish to be the top leader whether they have the ability to speak in good English at an international forum is a secondary question. Any good initiative that the current Government of India has tried or attempted to follow rather than waiting like a dead dodo unlike a puppet PM few years back; the opposition has stalled the moves and disrupted parliament. India’s greatest enemies are her own politicians and social elites; not actually China and Pakistan. Few others holding back the nation are disgruntled groups like China backed Maoists and related insurgent groups. They may have started with a good note and philosophy to care for the poor; but has transformed into organized and heavily armed goons whose only focus is not social justice but loot, arsenal, rapes, extortion, smuggling and trafficking. In spite of all these limitations and the burden of a hugely illiterate population, India has done great to be recognized in the global platform. As long as the people of the country only look and think about harming one another and pull each other down, India is no match for China. Unity is the only strength and force that can take India to the forefront and match China.

Dear Editor,
Please do not play with the sentiments of innocent candidates. Many of the candidates are preparing hard for every single opportunity so at least let us face the interview with dignity.
I am talking about the interview conducted by NRHM for the post of DAHPM and District Data Assistant on 14/02/2017. During interview, the way panel behaved was something unacceptable. They were changing channels of the TV, leaving interview room, and talking loud in mobile during the interview, outsiders were moving in and out. I don't know how people can be so unprofessional.
Please do not dishonour our qualifications.

Dear Editor,
The hot topic on the enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years is going on viral in the social media and dailies. Everyone have their own views and explanations. A view from one side of coin depicts that they are demanding for uniformity in the process of retirement age for every section of employees and believes that they have their rights on demanding it. Currently, the state government is maintaining three retirement system in the state. A view from the other side of coin reveals another story. One of my colleague mockingly said, “Areh 2 years bada deneh se kya bada changes layega system meh, sab log ko apna hi pocket ka parwa hai”. From my point of view, there should be a constructive discussion among the representatives of different groups, those who are opposing and favoring the call.
The current state of unemployment in our state is precarious and in this situation, it is unhealthy for the CoSAAP to go for it. Practically, if we speak of surrendering the Government job to a young and energetic eligible youths then it may yield a good result; in this fast advancing era of supercomputers. No doubt, we are very grateful and highly indebted to those people who have till now served our state administration very cautiously and are vigilant in their duties.
The energy and power of youths is draining out, they are being directed in futile
ways due to the hell word “unemployment”. I know, most of you don’t agree with my
point of linking unemployment with the age enhancement. But it affects, at-
So it is now, up to the Government to decide the youth’s faith.

These incidents confirm the survey on untouchability in India in 2016. Researchers from Jawaharlal Nehru University and University of Maryland have covered 42,152 households across our country. A whopping 27 per cent of the members of those households shamelessly declare that they practice untouchability. There must be some more people who cling to such inhuman prejudices without categorically declaring it to a study team for the fear of legal actions against them. This shows that a large section of our people are still carrying almost same horrifying apathy against Dalits as our ancestors.
We can now recall that a few days ago, a woman teacher in Amreli thrashed her Head
Master on being asked for stationery by her Dalit superior. These incidents and the
attack on the Bastar-
Caste reservation is confined only to government sector which is a tiny part of total
job market. If the idea behind the caste reservation is to provide just employment
to Dalits then such reservation would have been extended to private sector also.
As a matter of fact, reservation for the Dalits, only for the government sector is
just to ensure proportional representation of Dalits in every police station, government
office and legislative body so that they can save themselves in a country where they
are still being agonisingly ill -
